This inspiring play took place at Wrigley Field in April of 1976, more than 30 years ago, and was made by Rick Monday, the Cubs' center fielder, early in the last of his five seasons with the Cubs before being traded just before the 1977 season to the Los Angeles Dodgers (the team the Cubs were playing that day in Chicago), where he completed his career. He retired at the end of the 1984 season.
